What is Street Mission?
- "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." (Gal. 6:2)
- Jyväskylä Street Mission is a non-profit association based on Christian principles.
- The principle of the association is to deepen people’s sobriety conviction, social and Christian way of thinking and also help people with drug and intoxicant problems and people who have been released from prison with their problems.
Our aim
- The helping process includes religious activities, populating people of different ages with intoxicant problems, helping families and young people, and finding employment for the long-term unemployed in the different units of the association.
- Street Mission was established after the wars in 1953. During many decades it has given a place to live for thousands of people with intoxicant problems in Jyväskylä.
- The major part of the association’s turnover comes from populating and employing people with intoxicant problems.
Third sector association
- An annual meeting uses the authority to decide in Street Mission.
- The 8-member board directs and leads the action with an executive director in charge.
- There are altogether 20 permanent employees.
- Employed 50-60 in month.
- The association has a service-buying agreement for 3+2 years with the city of Jyväskylä. The agreement includes 117 support dwelling places.
- The service-buying agreement with the rural municipality of Jyväskylä is made for one year at a time. The agreement includes 17 support dwelling places.
